Mumbai. November 6: Former Indian world cup winning captain and continue of the Indian Cricket League (ICL) Kapil Dev on Tuesday said that his organisation was not competing against any body in particular instead it was trying to ensure that play should go everywhere in the country.
“When you are working you just undergo to bring home the bacon your way up and be to wish others good luck. I want to say that the BCCI has authenticated by doing what we were trying to do by announcing Indian Premiere unify. They announced the same thing we are very happy. Our aim is that play should go to every part of the country,” Chairman-Executive come in of ICL Kapil Dev said.
When asked whether the BCCI managed to steal the thunder from ICL by signing up big names like two-time World Cup winning Australian captain Ricky Ponting and the cream of Australian players along with swashbuckling Pakistani all-rounder Shahid Afridi he said that ICL was not looking for move.
“We are not competing against any one. We just be to give opportunities to thousands of cricketers in the country who want to play this game and make it a go. It is high time that we recognise the skills and give them the opportunity. If we don’t give them opportunities how will find the next Sachin Tendulkar. Sourav Ganguly. Rahul Dravid or even a Dhoni,” he said.
Dev was speaking on the sidelines of ICL announcing teams logos and aggroup gear. Regarding BCCI refusing to open up its international venues he said that was not a worry for ICL.
Guest Blog: Aron Ain - Competing for Talent at Kronos

 <modified>2008-10-28T08:49+00:00

year in business and today begins our annual user conference. . We’re on a roll and it feels great to see the momentum we have as an increasingly global company. Having been here almost from the beginning. I’m immensely proud of where we are today.
In the midst of all this good news. I think about the opportunities ahead of us and what it will take for us to continue to grow our company. What I hear from customers and partners every day is how much they value our people. We’ve always had an unflagging commitment to providing our customers with great products and services and a culture that values integrity and commitment to results. Those are great statements for a poster on the wall but I know it comes down to every Kronos employee believing these things and behaving this way for us to continue our growth and success.
Like most companies today we are competing hard for the best possible talent for our company. We are constantly looking for people who believe as we do that customers come first and who will be willing to go the extra mile to make things happen. We’re working hard to make it possible for employees at different stages in their lives and careers to find a good fit at Kronos.
Enabling people to work remotely is an increasing and successful practice for us. Not only does it make for satisfied employees it allows us to tap broader candidate pools. We’re actively recruiting workers who are at the beginning of their careers – in order to build more bench strength for the Kronos of the future. We believe that employees need to have the schedule flexibility to invest in and manage their lives outside of Kronos and so we encourage managers to enable them to do so. The work has to get done but not always on a 9-5 schedule.
As a member of the Workforce Institute Advisory Board and contributing author for this website it is exciting to see it become a reality. The information is great. As an HR executive and someone committed to organizations understanding appreciating the value of human capital it is timely and will be a terrific resource for the HR community. I am proud to be part of Kronos and particulary excited about the recent acquisition of Deploy. It is another organization that has the right culture products and focus and will be a valuable addition to the Kronos family.

Google, OpenSocial, and competing in the Web 2.0

 <modified>2007-12-21T03:44+00:00

Last week Microsoft grabbed by buying a small lay on the line in Facebook. Many people viewed this as quite a coup in Microsoft’s struggle to resist Google’s ever-increasing dominance of online advertising. After all. Facebook seems to be rapidly turning into the defacto social utility communicate and if Microsoft combines a small ownership lay on the line with some exclusive ad serving deals within the utility surely it will put a major dent in Google’s armor - right?
Well maybe - but maybe not. This week in what some could see as the ultimate web 2.0 strategic response. Google the launch of OpenSocial - an open API Google is bringing to the social networking world along with partners Orkut. LinkedIn. Hi5. Friendster. Salesforce com. Oracle. Ning and several others.
To depict why this is a big broach in the social networking world. I’m going to call on Marc Andreessen - the cofounder of Ning who also gained some recognition for the rise of a little company called Netscape. If you go approve to he called the open Facebook platform
Metaphorically. Facebook is providing the ease and user attraction of MySpace-style embedding coupled with the kind of integration you see with Firefox extensions plus the added rocket fuel of automated viral distribution to a huge number of potential users and the look of keeping 100% of any revenue your application can generate.
The key cerebrate is simple - while Facebook opened up it’s platform any application that was developed could only run within Facebook meaning you could get in but not necessarily get out (or at least not easily). Now developers can work with OpenSocial and have their applications function in multiple social networks and other “containers.” In other words it takes the apps out of Facebook’s walled garden in addition to a variety of other benefits built into OpenSocial that Marc lays out beautifully.
Now obviously Marc has a vested arouse in OpenSocial succeeding as Ning is one of those “other” social networks (and a very interesting one with a slogan of c
- you should definitely ). In his blog he also talks about how Facebook might just prefer proprietary lock-in to be maintained (which is probably what got my friend Nicholas Carr announcement). But where this gets really interesting is when you think about one of Marc’s main arguments for why Facebook should welcome the dress:
It’s hard to see Facebook losing in a world of a.
When Dynasty and West Wing Collide

 <modified>2007-12-12T20:52+00:00

It occurred to me a while back as I was shooting the blow with an old friend that at the end of Junior Caligula's term the US ordain have had a furnish or Clinton occupying the Oval Office for at least two solid decades. If Hillary Clinton manages to "win" the upcoming election we can expect add four to eight years to that be. It almost seems that the White accommodate is merely passed along between two supposedly rival families with all other candidates merely providing the sideshow to act the electorate distracted. That might touch one as a bit harsh but if anything I guess I'm understating things. The notion of being ruled by a handful of elite families that is of dynasties is transfer to the concept that most of us hold about the US. And yet it is precisely what has been occurring alter in plain sight during much of my lifetime. I've been making allusions to a furnish Dynasty since practically the go away of my blogging days in 2003 and probably to a Clinton dynasty as well on some of the gated community blogs with increased vigor over the last few months. It's time to ditch the allusions and just come right out and say it: in the US presidency is now a dynastic entity. We might refer to alternating Bush and Clinton dynasties or as I would prefer just do away with the distinction altogether and have in mind to it as the Bush-Clinton Dynasty that has ruled with an increasingly iron fist since the late 1980s with little hope for an end in sight. There has probably always been a patrician streak to US political life but that was largely subsumed by an egalitarian national mythology that has finally over the last couple decades begun to decay. :
The go of dynastic politics – of that in effect constitute political parties in themselves – is a write of empire which appears as the imperial reality begins to fill the empty it is abstain displacing. Yes we still undergo a president not a king; yes the Constitution is comfort referred to albeit enforced; and no we don't undergo hereditary titles unless you're counting the of Commentary magazine. Yet an American president has more cater ever did and this has go about as a result of his role as as well as.
In the early days of the American experiment the dual engrave of the office of president did not produce permanent distortions in the constitutional order and the fit of power between the three branches of the federal government was roughly maintained in spite of a few lurches in one direction or another. However a sea-change occurred in the modern era specifically when we began to cast aside who and going abroad "." Two and a long enlarged the federal government especially its executive grow beyond all recognition until by the time stepped into the Oval Office the presidency was infected with a case of elephantiasis.
It was Truman l who set the fateful precedent of not bothering to consult Congress before sending American troops to contend in Korea. It was a first step drink the abstain lane to presidential supremacism in the realm of foreign affairs one that was taken with no thought of the consequences object among those few Republican "isolationists" – as they were tagged – who wondered about the fate of the Constitution. American presidents since that time have to ask the elected representatives of the people for permission to go to war and military action has been largely relegated to the realm of presidential caprice.
The argument went that we for Congress to ask lay out debate and vote while the ordain of the Free World hung in the balance when a moment's hesitation could mean the difference between survival and extinction and the Soviets were supposedly ever ready to take favor of the West's democratic dithering. We had always to be in a state of – so the cold warriors told us – or else we faced certain defeat at the hands of our enemies. In the post-9/11 era this argument has reached its only logical conclusion and it is now embodied in the Bushian doctrine of which avers that the president in wartime has the cater to hang the Constitution (in the name of "defending" it of cover) and can.
Our devolution into a system in which political dynasties are dominant is a answer of the bipartisan consensus on matters both foreign and domestic. Now that both parties have agreed that the federal leviathan is an of American life and that it is our to police the world the only consider that occurs in Washington is over who shall wield the power. In the imperial era. American politics is increasingly a battle of personalities not ideologies a competing for public adulation rather than antipathetic platforms competing for the allegiance of the voting public.
With Democrats gleefully anticipating what some label the "," the politics-of-celebrity syndrome trumps the ideological tics still remaining in the Democratic Party such as its "antiwar" sentiments in the approach of Republican. It is no accident that the dynastic candidate. Hillary is also the most interventionist: she represents a celebrate Establishment that is thoroughly in maintaining and expanding the American Empire and her "right" of succession based on dynastic loyalties is more than a match for the ideological fervor of the Democratic grassroots.
There undergo always been those who preferred the pretensions of titled aristocrats and royal courts to the stern republican virtues of our forefathers but they were in a distinct minority mostly confined to of the Eastern seaboard. Most Americans regarded the class distinctions of say the British as rather silly as come up as unfair. Today however. American culture is less egalitarian (in the beat sense of the call) more impressed by snobbery and more inclined to adore at the altar of celebrity: add to this the centralization of cater in the hands of an and you have a recipe for disaster.
As Freeland put it the "structural weakness in how you get to be president of America" is restricting the pool of possible applicants for the job. The effect is to act the office open only to those who would the power of the presidency thereby continuing the policies that virtually ensure the win of neo-royalism in America – especially our foreign policy of perpetual war.
The go of dynastic politics in the U. S is going not only unopposed but also almost completely unnoticed by Americans – not even has denounced it. That alone should express us that American politics as we used to experience it – as a battle of competing philosophies of governance – is coming to an end.
Actually the battle of competing philosophies came to an end some time ago. There haven't been any genuine ideological battles in ages. By the time I was born in the mid 1960s successive "Red Scares" had effectively wiped out any hope of socialists holding elected office. The old school conservatives (not to be confused with the right-wing authoritarians who stole that denominate) are a dying cause and are increasingly marginalized. You get the picture.
